Challenge
Based on a comprehensive market analysis and assessment of each of the partner companies, an innovative business model was created which increased the value of the invention for both licensee and licensor significantly compared to standard business models.
TTO facilitated contact and further negotiations with the worlds leading medical device company. The developed business model created consensus amongst the parties and the valuation was therefore used in the negotiation process.
The outcome of the commercialisation was the largest deal a Danish university had ever negotiated before.
A Danish university had developed an algorithm for diagnosing the fatal heart disease long-Q10 syndrome.
Given the far-reaching consequences of the invention, the university as well as researchers were eager to exploit the invention commercially.
Due to the highly consolidated market in the medicinal technology industry, commercialisation could best happen through collaboration with one of the leading global players in the market.
TTO was brought in to develop the business model of the project and to facilitate dialogue with decision makers of the potential partners.
Furthermore, TTO was given responsibility of building the business case and making the valuation used in the negotiation process.
